SCHEME OVERVIEW

Cork County Council in association with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, is progressing the development of the N72-N73 Mallow Relief Road scheme.

The Mallow town area experiences a level of both local and through traffic using the N72-N73 that is contributing to congestion within the town centre, and which is compounded by the relatively large number of HGVs passing through the town and making deliveries within the town.  This has contributed to poor safety and environment for non-motorised users, in particular vulnerable road users (VRU).

In December 2019, Cork County Council appointed Barry Transportation as Technical Advisors to provide the Engineering, Environmental, Economic and Appraisal services required to develop a scheme to address the congestion, safety and environmental concerns that exist within Mallow and to successfully deliver the Scheme through the planning and design Phases 1 to 4 inclusive in accordance with TII Project Management Guidelines.
